A scientific breakthrough in controlling mosquitoes, the Mosquito Trap significantly reduces mosquito population in a one-acre area. The MKS uses carbon dioxide to mimic the respiration of a 300-lb. person and cycles through body temperature ranging from human, cattle, poultry and domesticated pets every 6 - 9 minutes. It attracts mosquitoes, then vacuums them into the unit where they are quickly eliminated. Some products burn explosive fuels like propane to generate CO2. The main component for attracting mosquitoes to your trap is CO2, that is why we use CO2 and we do not burn propane. CO2 cost less than propane to use and you have full automatic control as too when you want to turn your unit OFF or ON. This helps you conserve your CO2 and use it only when the mosquitoes are out. The MKS (Mosquito Killing System) is a revolutionary mosquito-control device originally introduced by Environmental Products and Research (EPAR) and continued to be sold by Arctic Products. The MKS relies upon the mosquitos natural ability to locate its prey through heat sensing and Carbon Dioxide detection. By use of a patented device which cycles every six to nine minutes, the MKS mimics the body temperature of humans, cows, pets, and other animals to provide a visual heat image. The MKS produces gentle air currents, which simulate prey breathing, in order to effectively attracts mosquitoes into a killing zone where they are quickly electrocuted. The MKS can destroy a tremendous number of mosquitoes in a single night. The MKS unit features strong, durable construction, yet is attractive enough to be a suitable addition to anyones lawn, patio, or any other area in need of mosquito control.
Mosquitoes use a variety of cues to find their prey. Presently, many of these are poorly understood. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and heat have been conclusively shown to be important attractants for many mosquito species. Carbon Dioxide is produced as a bi-product of animal respiration and cellular metabolism. The MKS, with 13 years of research and development, has been proven by Ph.D Entomologists to be a safe and effective device to control the mosquito population. It is the most effective way to combat your existing mosquito problems. The MKS out performs existing mosquito control products which are based on older dated technology. How the MKS works...
New and improved, the MKS uses the mosquitos natural hunting techniques of heat sensing and carbon dioxide detection. The unit mimics the body temperatures and breathing patterns of humans, livestock, poultry, and domesticated pets. The photocell powers up the MKS, beginning the cycle of mimicking body heat and respiration. The MKS simulates the breathing of warm-blooded mammals by the release of carbon dioxide in 5 hour intervals. Every 6 to 9 minutes the MKS cycles through various temperatures to attract the mosquito. Through thermal imagery, and the release of CO2 the mosquito is attracted to the unit. Once inside the unit, the fan forces the mosquito through the machine. Mosquitoes are killed when they pass through the electrocution grid. The remains are then expelled through the bottom of the unit and returned to the environment. The MKS is UL listed. CO2 tank is not included. Available for separate purchase.
Protect your pets from mosquito bites and heartworms...The causative agent of dog heartworm is a nematode. During a blood meal taken from an infected host, the mosquito ingests the microfilariae released by the adult nematodes. The microfilariae then migrate to the thorax of the mosquito where they change to become shorter and thicker. This stage then moves down the proboscis of the mosquito and enters the new host through the small wound made by the feeding mosquito. Once in the mammalian host, they infect the heart and pulmonary arteries sometimes causing death.
